7 Important Features Of Security Cameras

Considering buying a security camera? Want to know what is most important, what features the cameras should have? In this article we’ll discuss some of them, which make the camera better, more professional, more effective and worth buying.
Security cameras are an essential part of your home and business, and this is the case, when quality means safety.

#1 Video Quality

In the security camera business, the video quality produced and recorded by your system is very important. Now, security cameras offer at least 720p resolution, and many even offer as high as 1080p for recording and streaming. Some of the top surveillance systems on the market feature 1280x960-pixel camera resolution and more.

The main purpose of a surveillance security system is to capture or deter criminals when there is suspicious activity around the house, business, or personal items. When a crime does occur, a high-resolution camera can provide a clear and detailed picture of the criminal.

#2 Vandal-proof cameras

Vandal proof security cameras are equipped with a metal housing that prevents the camera from damage from vandalism, physical abuse or possible maltreatment. All homes or businesses should strongly consider vandal proof security cameras for their video surveillance system installation. Vandal proof security cameras are often utilized in high-security areas like warehouses, banks, airports, hotels, parking lots, and retail stores.

#3 Weatherproof Cameras

Weatherproof cameras feature at least an IP66 weather rating, which is a standard rating of protection offered by a camera’s enclosure. Each outdoor camera housing is constructed to keep out small particles such as dust, and is unaffected by a range of weather conditions including heavy rain and snow.

#4 Viewing Angle

Viewing angle is an important feature to consider when both purchasing and installing security cameras. The viewing angle will determine where you position the cameras and exactly how much they can see at a time.

For instance, a 180° megapixel camera could be used to monitor a parking lot adjacent to the building that it’s mounted on. Actually, this one camera could take the place of up to four analog security cameras.

A 360-degree fisheye and panoramic security camera provides 360° surround view without blind spots, and it is ideal for surveillance applications that require wide area coverage in a single view.

#5 Remote Monitoring / Web Access

This is not only a feature and a service that is just generally added to your overall video surveillance system, it’s also a way to manage and oversee your business from a distance. You’d better buy a camera that can be accessed via the Web. You’ll be able to see the yard, the front door or your workplace from the screen of your smartphone or laptop computer.

#6 Recording / Storage

A security camera that doesn't save or record what it captures isn't very effective, especially if you're hoping to prosecute an intruder. That's why most security cameras offer either local or cloud storage and sometimes, both.

#7 Low-Light Security Cameras / IR

Infrared security cameras capture video in low light and no light areas. IR cameras, or infrared cameras are also known as Night vision security cameras. Infrared cameras have IR LEDs positioned around the outer edges of the camera lens which gives the camera its Night Vision capability.

Dummy Cameras: Security or Illusion?

Have You heard of dummy cameras? Of course, as it is rather common to use them in surveillance purposes, when one cannot afford buying a real security system or security cameras. Dummy security cameras imitate the appearance of real cameras and there are cases when they really help to deter crime. Installing fake security camera is surely a better idea than having no security cameras at all, or trusting the property security to a dog.

Nowadays, fake security cameras are available in different sizes, colors, shapes. In most cases they use the original housing. There are dummy cameras which have some features like a fake pan/tilt/zoom, or red lights which make the camera look more realistic and achieve better results. Of course dummy cameras have the advantages of being much cheaper, they don’t need any maintenance and in certain situations they are useful. But before buying a dummy security camera, you should review all pros and cons seriously, and make the right decision. You should understand, that when it comes to security and protection of what is dear to us, fake cameras are a great risk.
In most cases burglars and criminals are capable of telling the difference between a fake and dummy camera at one glance. As the 80-90% property crimes are being planned beforehand, the cameras, burglar alarms and other deterrents are also checked beforehand. Always remember, that a real security camera is a safer bet than a fake one. Besides, when something bad happens to Your property or business, you will not have a surveillance footage, if you had have chosen fake security cameras. The use of fake security signs and stickers is also a bad idea, as it takes only a few minutes to google the company name and find out, whether your house is secured by that particular company or it is a fake.
It's not a good practice from a security point of view or, when used for business, from a business point of view. Besides, dummy cameras may mislead other people in that certain area of “Surveillance” into fake sense of security, thus resulting in potential liability issues for the location owner in case of accidents.
Installing fake security cameras is a bad idea, especially when the property is located in high crime areas, if you have valuables, which should be well protected, and of course, if the well-being and security of your family members, employees or customers matters most. Modern CCTV market offers affordable security cameras and security systems, and one should realize, that this is not the case to save or go on budget. 7 Signs, that Your House has been Targeted for Robbery

According to FBI statistics, every 15 seconds a house is being robbed in the USA. 9 out of 10 burglaries are usually planned beforehand, so there are a few signs, which are indicators that Your house is being watched for not-so-good-purposes. Here are some situations You should watch out.

1. There are strange marks on the fence, on garage, on the house itself. If You are sure, that its not Your kids' art, then consult the police officer as soon as possible.

2. You have spotted a strange person walking slowly in Your neighborhood and observing Your house. This is to be taken into consideration carefully, because he might just turn out to be a lost passer-by.

3. A vehicle that you haven't seen before on your street: The first warning sign is a vehicle parked and unattended for a long time or at random times near your home. It doesn't belong to your neighbors or anyone you know in the neighborhood.

4. In general people have an appointment set in advance when a cable repairman or TV installer is stopping by to fix or service your equipment. So if a handyman, workman, or anyone else comes to your home unannounced, take warning.

5. Another knock at the door by a stranger who asks to use Your bathroom or wants a glass of water. It is possible, that he would be a random passer who is just in need of anything, but anyhow, better safe than sound, keep an eye on him.

6. Your locks, window locks or garage door/window is mysteriously broken. You should hurry to fix them and check Your alarm system.

7. There are promotional materials at the front door, like visit cards, promo-offer catalogs, sticky notes on the door. Usually burglars put all these at the front door, to check if homeowners are at home, or not.

Many people think that wasting money on a home security system is useless and they try to take the responsibility of keeping their home safe by not having a security alarm system, and only after a burglary or another accident realize, that investing on a security system is vital for their home protection.  Keep Your property secure and safe with security system. That's the best deterrent for burglars.

    Video Surveillance in Childcare Centers

Video Surveillance is number one priority in any child oriented and safe Childcare Center. Every parent wants to be sure that their child is being treated well, properly cared for and is not abused in any way. Professional security cameras with advanced features are the best solution. Either the parents are given the camera feed on their devices or they will be allowed to monitor children at Daycare, in special room, is a matter to be discussed and decided within parents and Daycare authorities. For some people access given to all parents is an issue of privacy, and there is an anxiety that other parents are watching not only their own, but also the other children, that is why many Daycare Centers choose the method of monitoring at Daycare territory. There are also centers that choose method of authorized parent monitoring. Anyhow, whatever method is chosen, security camera in Childcare Centers is a must nowadays taking into consideration the fact that cases of child abuse increase every year. Every parent will have peace of mind, knowing that he/she will be sure, that the child is in safe surroundings.
Unfortunately, child abuse is not an uncommon thing in nowadays society, so why not to solve this problem with the help of technology? If a Childcare Center installs surveillance cameras for the purpose of allowing parents to monitor children in the daycare center, all daycare employees, attendants and parents must be informed about the cameras' intended use. Daycare authorities are obliged to maintain safe communication security measures to prevent unauthorized access to the video surveillance system. Generally, cameras are not installed at bathrooms and diaper changing rooms, anyhow, they can be installed, if that is the decision and requirement of all parents, and is not against the specific state laws, as in different states there are laws regulating privacy matters.
After all, security is at the very top of the list for a quality child care experience, and all of us want our children to grow up in safe and secure surrounding!
